The present course will be lecturing by Carlos Balsalobre, PhD in Sports Science, author of more than 30 articles in high impact scientific journals; designer and developer of My Jump 2, My Lift and other scientifically validated apps for the measurement of sports performance, and Consultant in elite sports (NBA, LaLiga).
The improvement of the muscular qualities involved in "explosive" disciplines such as jumping or sprinting is a crucial factor for training, and furthermore, those are major physical components of performance in many sports.
Recent studies have brought new insights into the evaluation of power-force-velocity profiles in both ballistic push-offs (e.g. jumps) and sprint movements. In this course, we will learn the biomechanical basis of sports performance monitoring with a focus on force, velocity and power production capabilities. We will talk about load-velocity and force-velocity profiling in lifting, jumping and sprinting, both from a theoretical and practical point of view using novel technologies such as smartphones.
